About
Joey Sanchez’ drumming career started at the age of 4, to a packed crowd at his Aunt’s wedding. A love of drumming grew through the years, and resulted in many performances throughout his youth. After graduating high school in which he was an award winning drummer for the jazz ensemble, Joey began playing with 5 Minute Walk recording artist, Sherri Youngward in 1996. This started his work with producer Aaron Sprinkle. After touring and recording with Sherri for 5 years, Joey began playing on a few of Aaron’s solo efforts as well as backing him up live and becoming one of his top session drummers. This led to the emergence of Fair who released their debut record on Tooth and Nail records in June of 2006.
Joey’s ability to quickly adapt to whatever best suits the project he is working on has made him a highly sought after live and session player. This has resulted in his participation on more than 100 recordings to date, including Jeremy Camp’s RIAA gold selling albums “Restored” and ” Beyond Measure” as well as CCM Band of the Year, Hawk Nelson’s “Bring ‘Em Out”, from the MGM motion picture “Yours Mine and Ours.” Joey has also been a full time member of bands such as Fair, Yellow Second, and Dolour to name a few, in addition to numerous live performances all over the world. Joey has performed and/or recorded with artists such as Julianne Hough, Scotty McCreery, Jeremy Camp, John Davis (Superdrag), Tiffany, Nathan Lee, Tooth and Nail artists The Send, Ruth, Project 86, Kutless and many others.
When not touring or recording Joey spends time at home in Nashville with his wife Brynn, and daughters Lucia, Mae and Opal.
